BY SAM KRAUSS

Junior Natalia Angel struts down the hallway with her blue Jansport on her back and has made it part of her everyday school style for many years. She has a sentimental connection with her backpack and has had the same one since her middle school days.

“My blue Jansport backpack matches everything and fits all of my stuff perfectly for school,” Angel said. “I wouldn’t want to use any other bag.”

Junior Brandon Egozi, who has had the same Jansport backpack since eighth grade. He said using the same backpack year after year helps him feel more comfortable because he is familiar with it.

“I have been through so many classes and memories with this backpack. I am so used to it and comfortable with it,” junior Brandon Egozi said.

Junior Sussi Moreno said her Kipling bag accompanies her everywhere she goes and is very functional. She uses the bag in school and out.

“My pink Kipling is the perfect size since it isn’t too big, but it holds all of my stuff and looks cute by adding a little bit of color to my everyday outfit,” she said.

Junior Monica Fernandez said she usually changes backpacks often because she likes changing things up and having different colors and styles. Since her backpacks fall apart by the end of the year, she tends to change backpacks at the beginning of each school year.

“I love my teal Kipling backpack because teal is my favorite color and is comfortable to carry around in school every day,” Fernandez said.

Junior Amber Karni is constantly switching up her backpack and said she is constantly searching online for new bag styles.

“I found this cute black leather backpack on Etsy online and I love it because no one else has it so it’s unique to have with me every day in school,” Karni said.

Backpack trends can be a great way of expressing your style in school since everyone needs one to carry around books and supplies, Karni said.

BY SAM KRAUSS

As a cold front moves into Weston, junior Angie Fernandez puts on her winter sweater, leggings and fuzzy socks and she is good to go. Fernandez is among those students on campus who get snuggled in their wintry clothes to stay warm.

“When it’s cold I love wearing leggings with sweaters because it’s so comfy and keeps me warm at the same time while still looking cute,” Fernandez said.

Junior Sussi Moreno loves wearing her combat boots and Uggs when it gets chilly outside because she said they are cute but still keep her warm at the same time.

“Wearing boots is my favorite. I love being able to wear them with a hoodie sweatshirt or cute sweater when it’s cold,” Moreno said.

Junior Emily Friefeld said she likes wearing her winter clothes such as boots and scarves because she doesn’t get to wear them often.

“Fuzzy socks keep my feet warm when it’s cold outside, and they come in so many colors and patterns to match any outfit,” she said.

Beanies are also seen a lot when the weather gets cold. Both girls and guys wear them, such as junior Drake Menten.

“Beanies keep me warm and I have a bunch of them that I like to wear when it’s cold,” Menten said.

Senior Brooke Lazarus said she can finally break out her sweaters, jackets and boots from the back of her closet because of the cold weather. She said she is happy she finally gets to wear her leather jackets.

“I have two leather jackets that I never get to wear because it’s always so hot outside,” Lazarus said. “I love getting to wear them when it gets chilly.”

Senior Natalia Rodriguez said big comfy hoodies are her favorite to wear when the weather drops into the lower temperatures. She said she has a big collection of hoodies to wear when it’s cold.

“I have so many different hoodies from sports teams, schools and places I have visited and I love when it’s cold so I can wear them,” Rodriguez said.

BY SAM KRAUSS

Junior Chloe Nelson heads to the gym after school for her daily workout and instead of wasting time changing into her workout attire she is already dressed and ready to go. Nelson, and others at the Bay, find advantages in wearing their sporty clothes to school.

“It makes me feel very athletic and comfortable,” Nelson said. “It helps me concentrate on school better because of how cozy and comfy I feel.”

During the school day, junior Krystina Ruggiero loves wearing her workout attire because of how comfortable and cozy she feels going from class to class.

“Wearing workout clothes to school is my favorite. It is so comfortable and easy so I can focus on school and not worry about picking out an outfit early in the morning,” Ruggiero said.  “It is so easy to wear workout clothes to school because I can go workout right from school and go straight to the gym.”

Wearing workout clothes to school is not just a trend among girls. Guys wear athletic sneakers and basketball shorts every day.

“I usually wear gym shorts and my baseball shirts to school because I have practice after school and it’s the easiest and most comfortable,” junior Austin Lloyd said.

With a busy school schedule and extracurricular activities after school, senior Brooke Lazarus, a soccer player, said it can seem as if there is not enough time in the day to eat, change and get everything done during the busy week.

“I love wearing my soccer clothes and Nike Free Runs to school because I feel so relaxed and I don’t have to bring a whole set of other clothes for practice,” Lazarus said. “It’s so easy and I feel sporty and comfy all day.”
