After spending much of her childhood listening to artists such as Frank Sinatra, Queen and Juli London, junior Regina Valencia has fostered a musically oriented personality.
“My dad and I listened to music together all the time,” she said. “The music brings us so close together. I absolutely love the bond between the two of us.”
Her influences have since then motivated her to express her love for music and begin performing as a jazz and blues singer.
“Music has always been a part of my life. I don’t know where I would be without it,” she said.
Although music has always played an important role in Valencia’s life, she first began by only singing to herself. However, she gradually gained the confidence to perform in public and soon afterwards embraced the spotlight.
And with the help of a voice coach, Valencia has efficiently learned how to precisely sing high and low keys.
“It was really scary performing for the first time. It took a lot of confidence,” Valencia said. “But after a couple of gigs, I was really myself on the stage.”
