Located in Pembroke Pines, brand new Vietnamese restaurant “Leafy” opened for business on July 9. The atmosphere of the restaurant is laid back and relaxing, which makes it suitable for enjoying lunch platters and sweet desserts. “Leafy” contains rustic decoration and a variety of plants, creating a satisfying environment for customers to enjoy.

The restaurant serves its unique Vietnamese food with a slight twist. Their beverages can be served with an adorable edible teddy bear sitting on top, making them suitable for picture taking. Boba tea, Thai tea and matcha red bean strawberry soda are dessert beverages offered on their menu. Additionally, “Leafy” provides beverages that are not too shockingly sweet. “Leafy” provides a wide variety of desserts, such as cupcakes and yogurt, on their menu.

Lunch platters consist of several components such as pork, chicken and vegetables. In addition, “Leafy” has a vast menu ranging from simpler to more exotic dishes. For example, they offer more common dishes like Vietnamese chicken wings in addition to the more uncommon selections on their menu such as caramelized fried squid. Their caramelized squid may be too different for most people; however, the menu includes several other options. “Leafy’s” unique menu also includes platters for vegans, such as the vegan udon noodle soup.

All of the food served at “Leafy” is high quality and delicious. Even though there are not enough boba pearls in the boba tea, the wide range of foods “Leafy” offers is tasty. The various ingredients in their food allow for a pleasing flavor.

The prices for the majority of the food are reasonable; however, the dessert beverages seem to be on the expensive side, as it costs $6 for one beverage. “Leafy” charges individuals for beverage add-ons, such as almond milk pudding, cheese foam, boba pearls and the edible teddy bear. The most expensive dish on the menu, at $11.95, consists of the broken rice, which is a flavorful dish of grilled pork, shredded pork skin, pork pie and an egg sunny side up.

“Leafy” is located in the Palm Johnson Plaza Shopping Center in Pembroke Pines, Fla. Due to the current pandemic, the restaurant currently only allows take out and outdoor seating, which provides a safe environment for customers. The service provided by the employees is adequate but may vary depending on how busy the restaurant is.

Tuesdays are the only days of the week “Leafy” does not open for business; however, one can still get a taste of their appetizing dishes every other day of the week from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

With a relaxing and aesthetically pleasing environment, “Leafy” is a great restaurant to visit if one wanted to experience the taste of new exotic foods. Due to serving delicious dessert beverages and proper quality meals, “Leafy” provides a gratifying experience. However, even though some dishes may be too extreme, such as the caramelized squid, the rest of the menu provides a variety of other alternatives for individuals with a simpler palette.
