SENIOR DANNY STRENT
How did you get into wrestling?
The office made an announcement about the wrestling team, so I tried out. I was thrown onto varsity my freshman year, so I stayed on.
Who is your favorite wrestler?
Kyle Dake [of Cornell], because he is going for his fourth national championship this year.
Do you have a special routine you go through before a match?
Yes, I always have the same warm up. I jump rope and hop around to get a good sweat going.
Do you have a certain meal plan that you eat before you wrestle?
don’t really get to eat that much since I’m always trying to make weight. So my meal plan doesn’t consist of much except peanut butter and jelly.
Is it difficult meeting weight requirements?
It’s the hardest part about this sport. It’s impossible.
Do you have a lucky charm?
Always the same warm up. If I use the same warm up, I feel like that’s luck in itself.

Q. How has being on the wrestling team affected your life as a high school student?
I’ve been wrestling for three years and it’s kept me out of trouble and has taught me valuable lessons related to hard work and dedication.
Q. What do you think the hardest part about wrestling is?
The hardest part of being a wrestler is cutting weight.
Q. What do you think makes you stand out as a wrestler?
I put in extra work every day and push myself harder than my teammates and always try to out-work everyone.
Q. What are some traditions you have before a meet and why did you join the team?
We bring the team in a huddle for a motivational talk. I joined the team because it’s an individual sport as well as a team sport.
Q. Do you have any advice for other wrestlers?
During a match, never stop moving. Also, never doubt your abilities because anything can happen at any moment and never go into a match without warming up.
