What made you start playing water polo?

I used to swim competitively but found it boring after swimming countless laps. I liked swimming but wanted to play a sport I could have fun with.

What do you love about playing water polo?

The teamwork, which is extremely important in water polo such as when we are on offense. We have to pass the ball around until there is an opening in the goal. The feeling of swimming back after a goal is indescribable.

Do you plan on playing after high school?

I am not sure because I am only a sophomore, but if given the opportunity I might consider it. Water polo is extremely tiring so I would have to debate over whether it is worth it in college.

What do you do before games to prepare yourself?

I just relax with the team. The whole team stretches and warms up by swimming and doing drills in the pool.

What do you do to practice during the off-season?

I like going to the gym and might practice maybe three times a week.

Before each game begins, the captains of each team must meet each other with a referee and exchange positive words while discussing certain aspects of sportsmanship and game rules.

How do you prepare for each game?

Before each game, I lead the team in warmup. This consists of stretching and a water polo warmup. I try to make sure the team goes into each game with a positive and focused attitude.

What do you do to stay in shape during off-season?

I stay in shape in the off-season by playing water polo on a co-ed team in Fort Lauderdale. With this team I travel to tournaments and train for Junior Olympics events six days a week.

Do you plan to play water polo in college?

Yes, I plan on playing water polo in college. The college I want to attend is the Naval Academy in Annapolis and they do not have a women’s water polo team; however, they do have a club team that I can play on and I do plan on becoming a part of it.
